Jazz Day at UC
In Celebration of International Jazz Day 2016, Mercy Lit Up! will feature the Ernie Bucio Little Big Band at 7 p.m. Friday in UC Merced Lakireddy Auditorium COB 102 at UC Merced, 5200 N. Lake Road. Filipino picnic
The Central Valley chapter of the Filipino American National Historical Society is planning its 17th annual picnic from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. May 7 at the St. Jude Thaddeus Roman Catholic Church school grounds, 330 Franci St. in Livingston. Filipino food and entertainment will be featured. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students, $5 for children 8-12, free for 7 or younger. Tickets can be purchased at the door. CASA volunteers
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Merced County will begin training a new group of volunteers May 9. Volunteers advocate for the best interests of children who, through no fault of their own, have been abused and neglected and need a consistent adult in their lives. Sober grad
The Sober Grad Night board is in search of volunteers ages 21 or older for two-hour shifts from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. June 2 and 3 at El Capitan High School, 100 Farmland Ave. Volunteers help give out food, take tickets, and run games and entertainment. Soccer camp
The Livingston Recreation Department is sponsoring the Challenger British Soccer Camp for children 3-12 years old from June 13-17 at the Max Foster Sports Complex, 2600 Walnut Ave. in Livingston. The time is between 5 and 8 p.m., depending on the child’s age. The price is $30-$50 and includes a soccer ball and T-shirt.
