Fair competition
The deadline to submit competitive entries for the 2016 Merced County Fair is 5 p.m. Thursday online or at the fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. For the majority of entries there is no fee. The handbook is at tinyurl.com/jmvlkwc and at the fairgrounds. Livestock competitive entries must be submitted online. MCAG presentation

Free venue
The Pacheco Village and Pacheco Court Apartments would offer free venue rentals. There is meeting space up to 60 people capacity and community rooms with kitchens available for local organizations, churches and nonprofit agencies to use for meetings and activities. Look Good Feel Better
Look Good Feel Better is a free two-hour workshop for women cancer patients experiencing appearance-related side effects from their treatment to be held held on the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mercy UC Davis Cancer Center, 3850 G St. in Merced. Adult coed softball
The Livingston Recreation Department is accepting rosters for the adult coed summer softball league through 5 p.m. May 27. Packets are available at City Hall, 1416 C St. in Livingston. Games will be played Mondays and Fridays, depending on division, at Lil’ Guys ’n’ Gals Field in Livingston. There’s an eight-team limit per division. Giants vs. Dodgers
