Neuropathy support
The Merced Peripheral Neuropathy Support Group’s next meeting is from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffmeister Center, 1920 Canal St. Toes, fingers, feet and/or hands that tingle or feel numb could indicate peripheral neuropathy. FFA plants
The Atwater High School FFA plans its annual Spring Plant Sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the school’s Agriculture Department, 2201 Fruitland Ave., Atwater. For more information, go to www.AtwaterFFA.org. Proceeds support the school’s FFA and horticulture program.
Pet adoption
The Merced County Humane Society plans an adoption event from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at PetSmart, 1196 W. Olive Ave. The group offers puppies, kittens, dogs and cats that were raised in foster homes. For more information, look for the society on Facebook or email mchs324@gmail.com.
Jazz guitar
Jazz guitarist Mikel Soria will bring his swing to kids songs at this month’s Second Saturdays performance from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. Admission is $3 for children; adults attend free. This is the last Second Saturdays performance until October. The series is sponsored by the Merced County Office of Education and the Merced County Arts Council.
Mature drivers
A free course called Mature Driver Improvement will be presented from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19 at Merced College Educational Center, Building 5, near G Street and Community College Drive. Those who complete the course could get up to 10 percent off their auto insurance premium. Prospective participants should check with his or her insurance agent first. Arts & Spirits
The Merced County Arts Council and Arbor Gallery plans an evening called Art & Spirits the third Friday of each month. The next evening of wine and painting will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 20. An experienced Arbor Gallery artist will show attendees everything they need to know, and all refreshments and supplies are included in the $35 charge. Relay for Life
Atwater’s Relay for Life is looking for volunteers. Those interested in helping plan the event for the American Cancer Society can email Ted Torres at relayforlifeted@gmail.com. No experience is necessary – just enthusiasm, commitment and a desire to make a great event Sept. 17-18.
