MS help group

The Merced multiple sclerosis self-help group will meet from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Ave. Andrea Corvello will provide current information, literature and discuss local activities for individuals with MS. Living history

Bettencourt Family Ranch’s living history event, “Rendezvous 1825,” will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at River Oaks Range, 11584 N. Shaffer Road, Winton. Admission is free. Lunch is for sale. Basque picnic

The 52nd Basque Club Picnic in Los Banos begins at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Los Banos fairground, 403 F St. It begins with Mass, followed by lunch from 12:30 to 2 p.m., which includes lamb and sausage sandwiches. Music, vendors and contests are planned.

Safety class

Merced’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a Hunter Safety and Range Instruction class May 21-22 and July 16-17 at the Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. Cost is $15 per person and registration is required at www.wildlife.ca.gov. Baseball drive

A missionary group traveling to Somoto, Nicaragua, in June is collecting new or used baseball equipment, such as gloves, bats, balls and cleats. Equipment donations may be dropped off at Ekizian Family Chiropractic Office, 790 Loughborough Drive, by June 1. For more information, call 209-261-8459.

Merced Aglow

Zoo camp

The Merced Applegate Zoo will be having two summer camp sessions at the Rossotti Center. The first, for ages 6 through 9, is July 11-15; the other, for ages 10 through 12, is July 18-22. Each session will be from 9 a.m. to noon and will be limited to 25 children. Registration forms are available at the zoo gift shop, 1045 W. 25th St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Registrations must be returned by July 1. Cost is $40 per child, and $35 for each additional child in the same family. For more information, call 209-725-3337.

Giants vs. Dodgers

Merced Community Services is offering a San Francisco Giants bus trip at 10:30 a.m. June 11. The bus returns by 11:30 p.m. the same day. Cost is $115 for the trip and the game ticket. For more information, call 209-384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.

Courthouse art

Merced Superior Court has new artwork from local artists on display in the second-floor Jury Assembly Room, 2260 N St. Some of the artists are members of the Merced Art Hop and/or the Contemporary Humanitarian Artists Association. The opportunity to show is open to all artists in the Merced County. Art is displayed for three-month periods. For more on contributing to the display, call 209-725-4171.
