Recreation forum

A public forum to get comments, ideas and suggestions on the city’s recreation programs held by a Recreation and Parks Commission subcommittee is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Sound Life International Ministries, 928 W. FFA crab feed

The Merced High School FFA crab feed will be held Jan. 31 at the school gym. Doors open at 5 p.m., followed by a silent auction at 5:30 and dinner at 6. There will also be a dessert auction and a live auction. The event is the FFA chapter’s largest fundraiser. Proceeds are used for FFA trips, leadership conferences and supplies. Tickets are $45 each. Black-tie gala

Classic Hollywood is the theme for the Providence Christian School black tie gala dinner and auction at 5 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Merced County Fairgrounds Pavillion. Tickets are $50 each or $400 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased by calling (209) 383-4727. Donations of auctions items can be dropped off at the school office at 2142 Yosemite Ave.

Cease-fire dinner

Feet Changing Lives, the organization that maintains Merced Ceasefire walks, plans its second annual fundraising dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the Merced Senior Center, 755 W. 15th St. Tickets are $25 per person, and the doors open at 5:30 p.m. For more information or to buy tickets, call (209) 676-9824, (209) 600-9458 or (209) 769-3050. Black History Month

Liberty Fellowship in Atwater is scheduled to hold a Black Month History program at 5 p.m., Feb. 22. The event will include a community choir under the direction of Gwen Amey, praise dancing by Liberty Fellowship and much more. The church is at 1900 Shaffer Road in Atwater and the event is free.

Dance lessons

The South Pacific Dance Company is teaching traditional dance and music from the cultures of Hawaii and Tahiti. The school is now enrolling for the spring semester, ages 4 thru adult, beginners and advanced. Males and females are welcome. Classes are held at Creation Station, 2408 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Also, the Soul Power Dance Crew is now taking enrollment for an eight-week session in hip-hop dance for age 7 through teens.
