Christian concert

Stellar and Dove Award-winning contemporary Christian artist William McDowell will be featured in an evening of praise and worship starting at 7 p.m. Friday at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. A portion of proceeds will benefit youth ministries.

Flapjacks fundraiser

New Beginnings for Merced County Animals plans a flapjack fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee’s, 1734 W. Olive Ave. Tickets are $7.50 and can be purchased at Christina’s Fine Clothing, Valley Animal Hospital or Santa Fe Pet Hospital. All proceeds go to New Beginnings for transport costs, vaccines and flea treatments, medical bills and other needs. For more information, call Carole at 209-769-8953.

Summer meals

The Weaver Union School District will be participating in the Seamless Summer meal program. Free meals are provided to children ages 1 to 18 during the summer as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s program. In addition, they will serve as a distribution location for the Merced County Food Bank’s Drought Assistance Program. The sites are 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through July 18 at Ronald D. Brooks Park; noon-1 p.m. Monday through July 18 at The Grove Apartments, 340 S. Swim lessons

Merced’s Parks and Recreation Department offers summer swim lessons Mondays through Thursdays in three sessions from Monday through June 16, June 20-30 and July 11-21 in the McNamara Park pool, 1040 Canal St. Cost is $10 and registration in advance is required. Business expo

The Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s seventh annual Business Expo, which offers marketing, customer service and business finances workshops for business owners, is from 5 to 8 p.m. June 9 at the Merced College Business Resource Center, 630 W. 19th St. It’s free to the public. Neuropthy support

The Merced Peripheral Neuropathy Support Group’s next meeting is from 1 to 2 p.m. June 9 at the Hoffmeister Center, 1920 Canal St. Toes and fingers or feet and hands that tingle or feel numb might indicate peripheral neuropathy. Sunday dance
