Parent Cafe
The Merced Soccer Academy invites local residents to the Parent Cafe to share pan dulce and coffee every Monday while discussing issues and information relevant to the community, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the academy’s Youth Center in Stephen Leonard Park, 640 T St. For more information, call Fernando Aguilera at 209-947-0050.
Summer meals
The Weaver Union School District will be participating in the Seamless Summer meal program. Free meals are provided to youths ages 1 to 18 during the summer as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture program. In addition, the district will serve as a distribution location for the Merced County Food Bank’s Drought Assistance Program. The times and sites: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through July 18 at Ronald D. Brooks Park; noon to 1 p.m. Monday through July 18 at The Grove apartments, 340 S. Guerrilla art
The Mariposa Art Company will host a free Guerrilla Gardening Flower Bomb workshop from 6-7:30 p.m. June 17 at 658 W. 20th St. in Merced. To register, email mariposaartcompany@gmail.com or visit www.mariposaartcompany.com. Seating is limited. The workshop is for all ages.
‘Secret War’ talk
The National Association for Uniformed Services will meet at 10 a.m. June 18 at the Castle Air Museum banquet room, 5050 Santa Fe Drive in Atwater. Family trees
Merced County Genealogical Society welcomes Kathy Burrow, a genealogy enthusiast assisting others with their family trees for more than 40 years, as the guest speaker this month. Her topic will be “Family History For The Adopted Child” at 1 p.m. June 18 at the Merced County Library, 2100 O St. in Merced. The meetings are open to all; no membership required.
Sunday dance
This month’s dance will be 2-5 p.m. June 26 at the Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Music is by Gloria and Friends. Cost is $8, which includes refreshments and door prizes. For more, call 209-723-0839 or 209-628- 9734.
