Look Good Feel Better

Look Good Feel Better is a free two-hour workshop for female cancer patients experiencing appearance-related side effects from their treatment, held the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mercy UC Davis Cancer Center, 3850 G St. in Merced. Army’s birthday

Local veterans will celebrate the 241st birthday of the U.S. Army at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the American Legion Post 83 lounge, 939 W. Main St. The guest speaker is retired Lt. Col. Eugene “Bud” Gantney. Habitat volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of Merced County is looking for volunteers to build homes. Building skills and construction experience would be helpful. Vets services

Outdoor concerts

Chowchilla’s Sizzlin’ Summer Nights Music in the Park Concerts opens the 2016 season with singer-songwriter Brandon Pasion and his band. The country-rock music style is set for 7:30 p.m. June 23 in Veterans Memorial Park, Roberston Boulevard and Sixth St., in Chowchilla. Church women

The Church Women United Summer Retreat takes place from 9:30 a.m. m to 2:15 p.m. June 25 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1455 E. Yosemite Ave. Registration is $15 and includes lunch. Run in Atwater

The Run for Independence starts at 7:30 a.m. July 4 at Ralston Park in Atwater. Race distances are 2 or 5 miles. Walkers are welcome in the 2-mile race.
