Guerrilla art

Mariposa Art Company will host a free Guerrilla Gardening Flower Bomb workshop from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at 658 W. 20th St. in Merced. To register, email mariposaartcompany@gmail.com or visit www.mariposaartcompany.com. Seating is limited. The workshop is for all ages.

Reptile Encounter

Applegate Park Zoo plans a Reptile Encounter for two shows at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday at the zoo, 1045 W. 25th St. E&M’s Reptile Family has a long history of putting on family fun shows that provide a hands-on, educational experience with lots of reptiles and creepy crawlies. The shows are included with the price of admission to the zoo, which is under 5, free; ages 5-15, $2; ages 16-61, $3; and ages 62 and older, $1.50.

Secret War talk

The National Association for Uniformed Services will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Castle Air Museum banquet room, 5050 Santa Fe Drive in Atwater. Family trees

Merced County Genealogical Society welcomes Kathy Burrow, a genealogy enthusiast assisting others with their family trees for more than 40 years, as a guest speaker this month. Her topic is “Family History For The Adopted Child” at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Merced County Library, 2100 O St. in Merced. The meetings are open to all; no membership required.

Music therapy

Merced College is offering a non-credit class of “Music Therapy for Older Adults” from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through July 14 in Music Building Room 2 at the college, 3600 M St. The course is free. For more, call 209-381-6541.

Republican women

Merced County Republican Women Federated will meet at 11:30 a.m. June 20 at the Branding Iron Restaurant, 640 W. 16th St. Former U.S. Rep. George Radanovich of Mariposa will be the speaker. Lunch is served at noon, and bunco is set for afterward. Reservations made are reservations paid per arrangements with the restaurant. Free venue

The Pacheco Village and Pacheco Court Apartments is offering free venue usage. There is meeting space for up to 60 people and community rooms with kitchens available for local organizations, churches and nonprofit agencies to use for meetings and activities. Extreme reg

Students looking for one-stop shopping for college classes can go to “Extreme Registration” events at 9 a.m. Aug. 6 at the Merced College main campus, 3600 M St., or Los Banos campus, 22240 Highway 152. Prospective students will be able to meet with counselors, attend academic planning workshops, go through assessment, select classes, and purchase textbooks and parking passes.
