‘Odyssey’ all night
The Merced County Arts Council, with the assistance of Project Big Top, plans All-Night Odyssey in which readers will read “The Odyssey” all the way through in a single night. It begins at 6 p.m. Friday, July 1, and ends at 8 a.m. the next day at the Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. For more information, contact Dennis at director@artsmerced.org or 209-388-1090.
Black Oak music

‘1776’
The musical “1776” premieres at Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. at 7:30 p.m. July 8. Tickets start at $20. They can be purchased by calling the theater at 209-381-0500 or going to www.mercedtheatre.org.
‘Finding Dory’
Merced’s Barnes and Noble plans a “Finding Dory”-themed event at 7 p.m. July 8 at the 1720 W. Olive Ave. Planned are a scavenger hunt, activities and other fun. For more, 209-386-0571.
Outdoor movie
The Merced Parks and Recreation Department plans a showing of “Hotel Transylvania 2” at dusk on July 8 at Rahilly Park, 3400 Parsons Ave. The event is free. Staffers recommend viewers bring chairs, a blanket or something else to sit on. For more, call 209-385-6232.

Sierra Artists’ Gallery of Mariposa is calling on regional photographers to submit work to the Photography Fest and Sale. Entries are due by July 9 for the show that runs July 11-24. Arts & Spirits
The Merced County Arts Council and Arbor Gallery plans Art & Spirits on the third Friday of each month. The next evening of wine and painting is 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 15. Art Hop
