Retirees meet
The California State Retirees Association Chapter 5 services Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties. Our Lady in LB
The Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is extending an invitation to the 83rd Anniversary of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Celebration on Thursday to Sunday. The celebration Mass, featuring classic Italian hymns, will be 11 a.m. July 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1621 Center Ave. in Los Banos. A traditional luncheon follows the Mass. Safety class
Merced’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a Hunter Safety and Range Instruction class Saturday and Sunday at the Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. It’s $15 per person and registration is required at www.wildlife.ca.gov. ESL for adults
Merced College is offering free English as a second language (ESL) classes for adults in three locations within the district. Beginning and intermediate level classes will continue through July 28 and students may register at any time in class. Merced College’s Business Resource Center, 630 W. 19th St. in Merced, offers classes 6-9 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays. Free parking is available. Classes are also 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday through Thursday in Building A, Room 105, at the Los Banos Campus, 22240 Highway 152; a parking permit is required. The Chowchilla Alternative Education Center, 445 Trinity Ave., has classes 9 a.m.-noon every Monday through Thursday. For more, call 209-381-6542.
Neuropathy group

AHS reunion
The Atwater High School Class of 1966 is celebrating its 50-year reunion on Sept 24 at the Gateway Gardens, 560 W. 18th St. in Merced. It is a multi-year affair that includes the classes of 1965, 1967, 1968 and 1969.
