La Grange Odd Fellows of LaFayette Lodge 65 will hold its first car show, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at La Grange Old Schoolhouse County Park, 30204 Floto St., La Grange. Soccer tryouts
The San Joaquin Valley Soccer Academy holds boys tryouts starting Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Players should arrive early to fill out a waiver and have proper gear. President search
The Merced College committee overseeing the search for its next college president plans public input meetings throughout July. The next one is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Le Grand High School, 12961 E. Le Grand Road, Le Grand. Public health
The Merced Department of Public Health has set several community health planning meetings in July and August. The next two are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Puppet show
Coffee Bandits will host a free bilingual puppet show for children called “D.O.G.S.: Dozens of Good Solutions” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the coffee shop, 309 W. Main St. Health professionals and students are part of the comedy show, which is about climate solutions and the substantial health benefits that could come from adopting them. Tea and Bazaar
Native Daughters of the Golden West Veritas Parlor 75 plans its annual Tea and Bazaar with a Christmas in July theme from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 23 at Valley Baptist Church, 3312 G St., Merced. The tea luncheon is $10 and there will be a craft table, baked goods, a silent auction and “second time around” tables. The event is open to the public. Adult tutors
The Merced County Literacy Program offers orientation and training for volunteers who would like to become tutors for adults in Merced and surrounding counties. Orientation is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Merced County Library, 2100 O St. Training is from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the library. There are thousands of adults need of one-to-one academic help. Free health fest
Castle Family Health Centers plans the ninth annual Summer Family Health Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 6 at Castle Clinic, 3605 Hospital Road, Atwater. Admission is free and organizers will offer free health screenings for vision, glaucoma, hearing, diabetes, blood pressure and breast cancer. Dental exams are free for children.
