Bowling benefit

New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is hosting “Pins-4-Paws,” a bowling fundraiser, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bellevue Bowl, 785 Bellevue Road, Atwater. Tickets are $20 each for two games and a shoe rental. Prizes will be given away throughout the day. For tickets, call April at 209-261-6181 or Carole at 209-769-8953. Proceeds benefit animals of Merced County.

Soccer tryouts

The San Joaquin Valley Soccer Academy will hold boys tryouts from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at McNamara Park, 1040 Canal St. Players should arrive early to fill out waivers and should wear proper gear. For more information, call 209-724-0850 or email director@sjvsocceracademy.com.

Play dates

President search

The Merced College Committee overseeing the search for its next college president plans public input meetings throughout July. The next one is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Merced College Los Banos Campus, 22240 Highway 152, Los Banos; and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Chowchilla High School, 805 Humboldt Ave., Chowchilla. AARP

AARP Chapter 282 will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. Longtime member Bob Matthews is scheduled to present four scholarships given annually to deserving college students. There will be a 50-50 drawing, with six tickets for $5. Refreshments will be served.

LGBT center

The Merced LGBT Community Center is a safe space for the LGBTQ-plus community, along with family and friends, to congregate, find support and resources. Dinner theater

Bible school in Le Grand

The Le Grand United Methodist Church invites children ages 4 to 11 to “Move, Act, Care, Follow and Share at G-Force: God’s Love Is Action.” Vacation Bible School is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 1-4 at Le Grand United Methodist Church, 3821 Washington Ave., Le Grand. Neuropathy group
