Free haircuts

Public pool

The McNamara Pool is open for recreational swimming 3-6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The cost is $1 for youths and $2 for adults. Fridays are Free Swim Fridays courtesy of the Satellite Rotary Club for all under 18. For more information, call 209-385-6235.

President search

The Merced College Committee overseeing the search for its next college president plans public input meetings throughout July. The final one is 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Chowchilla High School, 805 Humboldt Ave., Chowchilla. Anti-bullying talk

The Merced County Junior Giants present Michael Pritchard, a national anti-bullying speaker, at 7 p.m. Thursday at Winton Middle School, 6300 Cypress Ave., Winton. The event is free. For more, call 209-385-7426.

Habitat volunteers

Habitat for Humanity seeks volunteers at the next Volunteer Orientation 7-8 p.m. Aug. 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church library, 2916 N. McKee Road, Merced. The meeting is meant to teach volunteers about Habitat locally and globally. To answer questions or for reservations, call 209-726-0850.

Legal services

Central California Legal Services’ staff would like to remind Merced County residents of the services and legal advice provided: tenant rights and homeless issues; social security and SSI disability cases; senior citizen legal issues; public benefit issues such as food stamps, CalWorks, unemployment, Medi-Cal and health care concerns; and other civil law matters. Free venue

The Pacheco Village and Pacheco Court Apartments offer free venue rentals. There is meeting space for up to 60 people and community rooms with kitchens available for local organizations, churches and nonprofit agencies to use for meetings and activities.
