Refs needed
The city of Livingston will begin its annual Youth Soccer Season and is looking for referees. Refs must be 15 or older, have knowledge of soccer’s rules and have played at least two years. Those interested can pick up an application at City Hall, 1416 C St., Livingston, or go to www.livingstoncity.com. The Recreation Department will provide training. Le Grand Bible school
The Le Grand United Methodist Church invites children ages 4 to 11 to “Move, Act, Care, Follow and Share at G-Force: God’s Love Is Action.” Vacation Bible School is 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. from Monday through Thursday at Le Grand United Methodist Church, 3801 Washington St., Le Grand. Play dates

Livingston Night Out
Livingston’s National Night out is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Livingston Police Department, 1446 C St., Livingston. It’s free. The police department will showcase equipment used during critical incidents, police horses, police dogs and vehicles. McGruff the Crime Dog will be on hand as will animal control. The Livingston Gang Unit will also be providing information to parents about gangs and gang-related clothes. For more information, call the station at 209-394-7916.
Merced Night Out
Merced’s main National Night Out event is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Applegate Park, 1040 W. 25th St. The event is free to the public. The National Night Out Celebration will include more than 40 vendors featuring free food, free Kiddieland rides, music, raffle prizes, free zoo entry, and public safety displays and information. Ghost hunting
Full Spectrum Paranormal and the Friends of Columbia State Historic Park plan “Paranormal Prospecting” from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Columbia State Historic Park, 1255 Jackson St., Columbia. The three-hour guided tour by flashlight is a search for ghosts. Participants must be older than 18, and not all areas of the tour are accessible to those with disabilities. ‘Back 2 School’
The Salvation Army is hosting “Back 2 School” night from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the center, 1440 W 12th St., Merced. There will be face painting, entertainment, water slides, balloon artists and free haircuts. Staff will serve food, drinks and more. The Army takes donations for this sort of benefit.
