Street Faire
The Merced Downtown Street Faire continues 5-10 p.m. Thursday on Main Street between K and M streets. Food, games, shopping and other entertainment is planned.
Breakfast in La Grange
The La Grange Odd Fellows of Lafayette Historical Lodge No. 65 serves its monthly breakfast on the second Sunday of each month at the IOOF Hall, 30018 Yosemite Blvd. in La Grange. The next one is 8-11 a.m. Sunday. The biscuits and gravy, ham and cheese omelets, sausage and French toast is $6 for adults, and $3 for ages 7 to 12. Children 6 or younger eat free. Quilters meet
Gateway Quilters’ Guild meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of the month at the Merced Health Department, 260 E. 15th St. for the “Christmas in July” meeting, when the group will be making Christmas ornaments for its tree for the Merced County Courthouse Museum in December. Merced Pride
Merced LGBT Community Center plans Merced Pride from 1-4 p.m. Aug. 21 near the amphitheatre at Applegate Park, 1045 W. 25th St., Merced. Hospital volunteers
Mercy Medical Center, 333 Mercy Ave., Merced, is taking applications for new volunteers, who can work in the gift shop, front lobby desk, surgical waiting room desk and the pavilion. Public pool

Western BBQ
Merced County Historical Society will host its 26th annual Old-time Western Barbecue in memory of Bill Kirby at 5 p.m. Sept. 13 at Lake Yosemite. Organizers ask diners to buy tickets ahead of time. There will be a live and silent auction. Tickets cost $50 and are now on sale in the Courthouse Museum Gift Shop, at the corner of N and 21st streets in Merced. Youth Center
