BBQ Cook-Off

Club Mercedes’ third annual BBQ Cook-Off is open to the public at noon Saturday at the club, 569 W. Ninth St., Merced. There’s a $5 cover charge for adults, and $3 for children 5 to 12. For more information, call the club at 209-383-9906.

Play dates

Challenged Family Resource Center is having a free play group 11 a.m. to noon every Tuesday at the parent Education Center, 827 West 23rd St., in Merced for typically developing children and non-typically developing children up to 5 years old. For more, stop by or call 209-384-0119.

Autism support

Challenged Family Resource Center plans an autism support group for families that include a child or adult who has autism from 5-6:30 p.m. every third Thursday of the month at the center’s office, 827 W. 20th St., Merced. For more, stop by or call 209-384-0119.

Dinner theater

AARP’s Merced chapter is opening to all seniors its Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater trip for “Camelot” in Fresno on Sept. 25. No membership required. The trip includes brunch and a show, and special entertainment just for the group. The bus leaves from Merced at 9 a.m. and arrives back about 5 p.m. Reservations and a deposit of $50 must be made by Aug. 24. The remaining $50 fee is due the day of the trip. Golf tourney

The Merced Elks Lodge will hold a charity golf tournament beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 17 at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands Ave., Atwater. Check-in time is 8 a.m., with lunch included. There will be raffle prizes, team prizes and closest-to-the-hole prizes. The cost is $75, which includes green fees and a cart. Proceeds are to benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Street sale

The city of Chowchilla will present Treasure Hunters Market from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 24 on Trinity Avenue between Second and Third streets in Chowchilla. This is a marketplace that may appeal to sellers and buyers. Applications are available at a cost of $25 for an 18-foot-by-15-foot booth space. Volunteers wanted
