Menudo sale

Club Mercedes will serve menudo from 8 a.m. to noon, or while supplies last, on Aug. 28 at the club, 569 W. Ninth St. A baby bowl is $4, medium is $8 and large is $9. Quesadillas are $1.50. Leaders classes

The Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce and Merced College Emerging Leaders Institute will kick off a new round of workshops beginning with “Employee Engagement: Improve Performance, Productivity and Retention” 8 a.m.- noon and repeated 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 1-8. It’ll be offered again 1 to 5 p.m. Sept 7 through 14. The workshop is $23 and worth a half-unit of college credit. Art classes

The Merced Multicultural Arts Center has a new fall schedule for classes offered for ages 5 to 8, 9 to 16 and adults beginning Sept. 6 at the center, 645 W. Main St. Children’s classes include DinoTastic Art, Fundamentals of Drawing, Explore Portraiture, Fundamentals of Painting, Fun in Leadership and Clay Modeling. Register by Sept. 2 to reserve a spot. Behavioral health

Focus groups

Merced College is launching an initiative to develop a new brand identity for the 54-year old institution. Leaders want to build focus groups made up of members of the community, including alumni, business leaders, parents of students and others, to participate in one of the hour-long focus-group sessions. The focus groups will meet noon to 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Margaret M. Randolph Board Room of the Barker Administration Building on campus, 3600 M St. To participate or to find out more, call the Merced College Office of Public Affairs at 209-381-6470.

Golf tourney

The Merced High School Baseball Dugout Club will host the seventh annual Grant Kuhr Memorial Golf Tournament Sept. 10 at Merced Golf and Country Club, 6333 Golf Road, Merced. Proceeds go to Merced High’s baseball program. Player registration is $125 and due by Aug. 31. Registration and a putting contest begin at noon. Tee time is at 1 p.m. Other contests included. HOW benefit

Helping One Woman plans a fundraiser 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at Bella Luna Bistro and Bar, 350 W. Main St., Merced. The group honors a single woman in need. Dinner is $18 and attendees are asked to give a gift of at least $10 to the honoree. There is also a drawing; tickets are $1. For more, email HOWMerced@gmail.com.
