Street Faire

The Merced Downtown Street Faire continues 5-10 p.m. Thursdays on Main Street between K and M streets. Food, games, shopping and other entertainment is planned.

Free movie

The next wave of free movies in the park in Merced begins with “Pokémon” at dusk Friday at Applegate Park’s outdoor amphitheater, near the intersection of W. 26th and O streets. The movies play about every two weeks in different parks through the end of October. For more, call 209-385-6232.

Domestic violence support

Valley Crisis Center will host “Fostering Cultural Competency through Community Dialogue” 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Sam Pipes Conference Room of City Hall, 678 W. 18th St., Merced. The goal is to examine how agencies can best provide services to Asian and Pacific Islander communities and empower participants to support victims and survivors of domestic violence. Caregiving workshop

For those who are caring for their loved ones, Pacifica Senior Living plans a free event with information on caregiving 9-11 a.m. Sept. 8 at Pacifica Senior Living, 3420 R. St., Merced. Blues Avenue

Club Mercedes presents Blues Avenue, an old-school, funk, Latin and R&B musical act, at 8-11 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Hall, 569 West Ninth St., Merced. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. No-host snack bar available. Entry is $10 per person (must be 21 years and older). For tickets or for more, call the club after 4 p.m. at 209-383-9906. Proceeds to benefit the club’s youth scholarships and other programs.

Shrimp feed

The Merced Elks Lodge will host the annual Shrimp Feed Fundraiser at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the lodge, 1910 M St. Doors open and a no-host bar is available at 5 p.m. A raffle will follow the dinner. Tickets are $40 and include all-you-can-eat shrimp, pasta, coleslaw and bread. Proceeds to benefit local lodge charities. Class of 1952 reunion

Reservations and payment are required by Sept. 15 for the Merced High School Class of 1952 reunion. Lunch is 11 a.m. Oct. 15 at the Italo-American Hall, 1351 W. 18th St., Merced. Members of the classes of 1951 and 1953 are also invited. Lunch will be served at 12:15 p.m. A breakfast buffet will follow 9-11 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Merced Courtyard by Marriott, 750 Motel Drive, Merced. Columbia Park event

Back to School Night 1861 at Columbia Historic State Park, sponsored by Friends of Columbia State Historic Park, will be 4-7 p.m. Sept. 17 at the historic school on the hill, 11255 Jackson St., Columbia. Festivities begin with music, costume dress-up, hand-cranked ice cream, 1861 school lessons in the downstairs and tours of the upstairs led by costumed docents.
