Gospel concert

Menudo sale

Club Mercedes will serve menudo from 8 a.m. to noon, or until supplies last, on Sunday at the club, 569 W. Ninth St. A baby bowl is $4, medium is $8 and large is $9. Quesadillas are $1.50. NAMI class

National Alliance on Mental Illness’ free Family-to-Family Education weekly class will be offered from 5:30 to 8 p.m. beginning Thursday at the Merced County Mental Health building, 480 E. 13th St. The 12-week course discusses illnesses and clinical treatments, and teaches the knowledge and skills family members need to cope more effectively. Focus groups

Merced College is launching an initiative to develop a new brand identity for the 54-year old institution. Leaders want to build focus groups made up of community members including alumni, business leaders, parents of students, and others to participate in one of the hourlong focus group sessions. The focus groups will meet from noon to 1 p.m., 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Margaret M. Randolph Board Room of the Barker Administration Building on campus, 3600 M St. To participate or for more information, call the Merced College Office of Public Affairs at 209-381-6470.

Color run

A color run is planned from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 10 at Pacheco High School in front of Brett L. Lee Gym, 200 Ward Road. It’s a 5K run or walk with dye stations and water stations. Sign up early for $25 (includes T-shirt and a dye pack); late registration is $30 with no shirt or pack. Additional packs are $5. For more information, call 209-827-4506.

Free Shakespeare

Merced Shakes presents its free Summer Shakespeare in the Park, the comedy “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” on Sept. 10, 11, 17 and 18. The Saturday shows are at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Sundays at 5 p.m. at the Merced Open Air Theater in Applegate Park, near 26th and O streets. ServSafe class

Job fair
