Eat at Joe’s for a good cause (and no waiting)
As stone crab season winds down, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade is gearing up for its second annual “Claws for Kids” fundraising brunch at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Joe’s Stone Crab, 11 Washington Ave., Miami Beach.
Menu items will include stone crabs, cole slaw, hash brown potatoes, creamed spinach and Key lime pie. For those who don’t eat stone crabs, other main course options will be available.
At $175 for individual tickets, the price might seem steep but there will be no waiting for a table (Joe’s will be open only for Boys & Girls Clubs supporters), and proceeds go for a good cause — the organization’s South Beach location, slated to open this summer. The South Beach Club will feature a teen center, state-of-the-art computer lab, teaching kitchen, homework rooms, game rooms and a creative arts room, and will serve approximately 400 children from the area.
“Claws for Kids” sponsorship opportunities also are available: Table sponsorships range from $1,500 to $10,000. Last year’s event raised $32,500 for the cause.
