Michelle Oliver: Classy ways to wear a screen-printed T-shirt

As fall continues to be delayed by hot weather, I’ve decided to talk about a great summer to fall transition piece.

I have a new found love, screen-print T-shirts, and have been testing out new ways to wear them. Although they can be very casual, there are a couple of ways to dress them up.

If you have read any of my columns, you know that I am all about dressing up outfits. So I wanted to offer some tips on how to dress up a casual shirt like the one I’m wearing in the photo accompanying this column. This shirt is from Walk in Love, a company that has a wide variety of T-shirts.

I shot these pictures on a brisk morning so I was more than willing to pair this shirt with jeans. I liked how the black writing really stood out on the gray shirt. It complimented my blue jeans perfectly. Then I decided to add some strappy heels to the mix.

I have been a huge fan of these heels because they are classy and dressy but not over the top. I then added a sparkly necklace to give it some flair and to balance out the casual aspect of the shirt. I threw all my stuff into a black-and-white purse and was good to go.

I love the contrast to this outfit, it casual and classy. You can definitely wear an outfit like this out on a date and look great.

Whenever I put together an outfit for a photo shoot, my goal is to always feel glamorous. If you don’t feel good in what you are wearing, don’t wear it.

That being said, there are quite a few other adorable ways to wear a T-shirt.

One trend that I am a huge fan of right now is wearing a T-shirt with a tulle skirt. This is a great outfit to put together while it is still warm outside.

I like it because it reminds me of something that Audrey Hepburn would have worn, glamorous and classy. Add a strand of pearls and some stiletto heels and you are set.

There are quite a few companies selling screen-printed T-shirt right now with hundreds of different sayings on them. There is literally a T-shirt out there for everyone.

Another great way to wear this outfit would be to throw a jacket over it. This is a great way to transition into cooler weather. I talked about moto jackets a couple weeks ago and that would be the perfect accent piece to this outfit.

A moto jacket, T-shirt, jeans and under the knee boots or booties would make a great outfit for vacationing this fall and winter. Don’t forget to throw on some jewelry to make your outfit stand out. Hopefully this column has made you look at screen-printed T-shirts differently. They are a great piece to have in your closet.
