Michelle Oliver: Get glitzy with holiday outfits

The holiday season is a great time to add some bling to your attire, whether it’s some jewelry or some flashy jeans – or both.

This time of year is always my favorite. I love the sights, sounds and smells of the holidays.

I can always count on my parent’s house being filled with decorations and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I am big on decorations, which is probably why I love holiday parties so much.

It is always fun to see how everyone decorates their homes. However, let’s be honest, holiday-time fashion is my favorite. I love attending parties and getting to see what everyone is wearing.

Now that the weather is chilly, I can have more fun with my layers and step outside the box on a few outfits. It’s always my mission to have a little fun with my party attire and this year is no different.

I was contacted by Miss Me to be a part of their holiday campaign for their new line. They teamed up with Dominique Cohen for a new collection and the amount of sparkle is endless.

I was really excited to get to be a part of this campaign and to team up with Miss Me once again. They sent me a pair of black denim pants with tons of gold detailing on the front and back. I am all about glitter and glitz, but these pants took it to a whole new level.

I decided that since the pants could easily become overbearing for this outfit, I would pair them with a plain red blouse. It was a great contrast to have something very basic next to something so bold and beautiful. I added a gold strand necklace. This is the perfect outfit for a Christmas or New Year’s party.

You can get away with so much more during the holidays when it comes to your wardrobe. I really loved this outfit and the beautiful sunset in the background didn’t hurt either.

Like I mentioned earlier, now that it is cold outside you can wear thicker jackets. One of my favorite trends right now is faux fur. I never thought those words would leave my lips. I have seen so many cute faux fur jackets recently, and I’m thinking I need one in my life.

I would pair a faux fur jacket with some dark skinny jeans, booties and a bold scarf. This is an outfit I’ve been dreaming of for a while and think it would be great for an evening party.

With New Year’s Eve coming up, everyone is talking about what to wear for that big party they are attending. I would pair a cute fit-and-flare dress with a faux fur jacket. Don’t forget to grab some dark-colored tights and a cute clutch to top it off.

Looking for a more casual outfit for New Year’s Eve? I understand completely. I’m planning on wearing some dark skinny jeans, knee high boots and a leather moto jacket. I plan on adding a dark colored scarf and maybe a little extra sparkle.

I tend to wear more sparkle during the holidays, and you’ll never hear me apologize for it. You may be able to see me coming a mile away but hey, at least you’ll know it’s me!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! May 2015 be the best year yet. Have a happy New Year!
