Michelle Oliver: Fashion resolutions for 2015
All I have seen on social media for the last two weeks is everyone talking about their New Year’s resolutions.
While some are pretty entertaining, others are very practical and achievable. I decided for today’s article I’d share some of my resolutions for 2015. All of them have to do with fashion. For most, the New Year signifies the perfect time to try new things and stop doing other things. So let’s talk about trying new things.
First things first, wear more prints and patterns. While I will openly admit that I love color, I tend to not wear a lot of prints and patterns. It is on my list of things to try this year.
Lucky for me Target just released their newest collaboration for the spring and my resolution will soon become a reality. Target is collaborating with Lilly Pulitzer, whose designs are coming to stores in April. If you aren’t familiar with her brand, change that soon.
I have already marked my calendar for the release and you should too. Not only will she have some very stylish clothing but she will also have some home decor items. You can look forward to a review of her collection in April.
Another resolution of mine is to be more creative with my golf attire. I recently started playing golf again. I played in high school and sadly didn’t make time for it in college. It’s time my golf outfits matched my everyday outfits.
I’m sure a lot of women would agree with me that most sports don’t offer a lot of feminine clothing options. I decided that if I’m going to play a “man’s sport,” I’m going to add a girly flair to it. No more knee-length shorts and basic polo shirts for me.
I have found that Dick’s Sporting Goods has a great variety of golf skirts and pants. They also have numerous colors of polo shirts. A great rule to follow when trying to dress for sports is to wear fitted items. I like the concept of wearing a fitted polo shirt and fitted pants while golfing.
This helps alleviate the feeling of masculinity and gives you the confidence of playing a sport and looking good while doing it.
My last fashion resolution for 2015 is to experiment with vests. I own quite a few vests but they are pretty basic compared to what is on trend right now. I have your typical winter vests that are meant to keep you warm but I don’t seem to own any vests that are fashion-forward.
I love faux fur and right now faux fur vests are a hot item. I feel like I need to at least attempt to wear one and see where it goes. I am not sure if I will like the look at all or not but I’m thinking that pairing it with a long-sleeved blouse and some skinny jeans would be pretty cute.
I will have to keep you posted on that one. I’m excited to try it, though. I never turn down the opportunity to try new clothing items. Hope you all had a wonderful New Year. Feel free to reach out to me if you need some ideas for how to shake up your wardrobe in 2015.
