Michelle Oliver: Dressing up for Easter Sunday

There are a couple of different attributes I look for in a sundress. It has to have a flattering shape and colors that work well together. Pockets are also a plus, considering my on-the-go lifestyle.

One of my favorite times of the year is spring, although my allergies always make me question why it’s my favorite. Seeing wildflowers all over highways and mountaintops is beyond beautiful.

The weather is normally stabilized by this point and I can start bringing out sundresses. With Easter this weekend, I thought it would be fun to show you my new favorite sundress.

There are a few attributes I look for in a dress before I purchase it. It has to have a flattering shape about it. I don’t like things to hug my curves or be overly baggy. One of the most flattering fits would be a fit-and-flare style dress. I learned many years ago that it always works for my body type.

Another thing I look for is the print. I am known for always wearing bright and bold colors but if those colors don’t work together then I won’t buy it. There are many dresses out there that are too chaotic even for me.

I also take into consideration whether it’s functional. I am all about pockets, so if a dress has pockets for my phone, keys or lipstick, then I’m sold. A dress has to work for you and your lifestyle. Let’s be honest, my lifestyle is all about being on the go, so pockets help me.

I found this bright floral dress at TJMaxx a few months ago at the end of the fall season. I love shopping at TJMaxx. It has so many designer brands and for very reasonable prices. I am all for paying full price for something, but what’s the point if I can find it way cheaper elsewhere?

I went through my checklist of items when I tried on this dress. The only drawback was that it was pretty snug. However, I didn’t let that stop me from buying it, because it was beautiful, had pockets and had a fit-and-flare shape.

I’m really happy I purchased it. I hadn’t planned to lose any significant amount of weight at the time but now that I have, it fits perfectly.

You know, it’s always important to be able to breathe when you sit down. Don’t forget that when shopping for a dress.

This is a great dress for Easter Sunday. I feel like our society doesn’t really dress up like we used to for Easter Sunday but I always make it a point to wear a dress to church when I can and Easter Sunday is a must for me.

I paired this dress with some adorable navy blue wedges I found at Target. Talk about functional and cute. These are very comfortable and go with almost any outfit. I have to give huge props to Target for stepping up their fashion game over the past few years.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend and get to spend it with family and friends. This is always a very special time of year for me and it always takes me back to why we celebrate Easter in the first place. Happy Saturday everyone!
