Free health screenings scheduled for Saturday in Livingston
Livingston Community Health on Saturday will host its annual Spring Health Fair, where providers will offer a variety of medical screenings free of charge.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the clinic’s parking lot, 1140 Main St. in Livingston.
Labs for adults, including glucose and cholesterol exams, dental screenings, blood pressure tests and flu shots, will be available.
Amelia Johnson, director of program and development at Livingston Community Health, said the health fair has been held annually for the past 10 years. The free health screenings attract people not only from Livingston but also from surrounding communities, including Hilmar, Ballico and Atwater.
Johnson explained that for many people, these screenings are the only medical care they get. Either because of access issues or timing, people use the free services as their primary health care services, she said.
The clinic expects anywhere from 200 to 300 people to show up Saturday.
Tables providing health education and resources will be set up. Organizations such as the Rescue Mission, In-Shape and Red Cross will be present.
Activities and entertainment for children will also be available.
