Michelle Oliver: With cooler weather comes new looks for fall

Hello, fall! As the taste of pumpkin spice lattes and the smell of pumpkin spice candles fill the air, I am thrilled for my favorite season to finally be here.

Isn’t the cooler weather just great? I couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to wear one of my new favorite dresses. Orange has probably become one of my favorite colors as of late. It just so happens that orange is the official color of fall. I’m not sure if it is or not, but it is in my book.

The other day I went shopping in the Bay Area. I love taking a day and heading to cooler temperatures. Not to mention, the variety of stores over there is awesome.

I stumbled into Nordstrom to “window shop,” and left with this adorable orange dress. The minute I saw the sleeves and pleats, I was sold. These days I have found it is increasingly hard to find dresses that don’t show too much skin. So when I find them, I have to buy them. Plus I couldn’t help but imagine how great this dress is for summer as well as fall. I plan on throwing on some tights and booties and will create a whole different outfit for the cooler weather.

There are quite a few dresses out in stores right now that can be great for summer and fall. I am all for versatile and getting my money out of an outfit. There is something to be said for clothes that you don’t have to put away for certain seasons. This dress is so versatile I just might add a scarf sometime this winter.

Another thing I love about this dress is that you can wear pretty much any type of shoe with it. Ever since knee surgery I find myself having to wear flats more than I used to. However sometimes you just have to wear heels. Luckily this dress looks great with both.

If you’ve been following this column since last winter you will know that I have a major obsession with boots. I’m sure you will see the trend the minute it is cool enough to wear them. I’m hoping that happens by the end of October. Fingers crossed. Hope you all have a great Saturday!
