Michelle Oliver: Printed leggings are my new obsession
I have a new obsession. It’s true, I’ll admit it. Printed leggings.
I have done numerous posts on my blog about prints and patterns, and while I still love every single one of those posts, none of them was about leggings.
You could say I have been hesitant about the whole printed legging trend. Mainly because I never felt like I could pull them off. I always envisioned printed leggings being perfect for ski boots or rain boots. I never thought they would be great to wear elsewhere.
Fortunately, I was very wrong.
A couple of weeks ago I was given the opportunity to try out some printed leggings from a store called White Plum. If you haven’t heard of it, you need to look it up online. This store has some of the cutest clothing I have ever seen. Now the really cool part: It’s based out of Modesto.
I am all about supporting local shops and was beyond excited when a friend told me about the store being local. Folks there were nice enough to send me a pair of printed leggings and I couldn’t wait to throw together an outfit.
I picked out a pair of black and white ones. You all know how much I love my black and white. It was a hard choice between these or another pair that were a bit brighter, but I figured I better ease myself into this trend with a little bit of familiarity. I paired these leggings with an oversized, long black T-shirt from Target and threw on a sweater and scarf over it.
I wanted to make sure the scarf was colorful to bring something a little extra to the outfit. It was a tossup between which shoes to wear. I love my booties but also love my knee-high boots. Ultimately as you can see in the picture, the booties won. Once the weather cools down this outfit will make an appearance quite often.
I have never – and I mean NEVER – owned a pair of leggings that were as soft as these. I felt like I was wearing pajamas all day long. Trust me, if you are a fan of leggings you have to try these out from White Plum. Don’t forget, shopping local is important and I personally will support any business from the Central Valley.
I wanted to take a second and thank you all for the sweet emails I have been getting about this column. I love hearing your feedback about an outfit, my blog or a store I need to check out. I am always interested to hear where people are shopping. Hope you all have a happy Saturday.
