Michelle Oliver: Boot socks and oversized shirts
Who is incredibly excited for all the rain and snow we got these past weeks?
I was so excited that I drove up to the snow the day after Christmas just to see it. Apparently I wasn’t the only one with that same idea because traffic was bumper-to-bumper all the way up the mountain.
Either way, I was more than excited to get to see some fresh powder. I can’t remember a time in my life where I ever saw trees so full of snow. We are talking every branch had at least 4 inches of snow on it. It looked like something out of a movie. It was beautiful.
Naturally any time I go anywhere outside the Valley I do my best to snap some outfit photos. You have to take advantage of a different background when you can.
I will be honest; I seriously underestimated how cold it would be up there. So this outfit may not have been the best choice for warmth purposes, but it was still great nonetheless.
I found this top at Target a few weeks ago. They have a new line called Knox Rose and I can’t get over how cute it is. It features tops and sweaters with more neutral tones than Target normally carries. This oversized shirt is sheer and not warm but is perfect to wear over leggings. I always make sure that I wear longer shirts when I wear leggings. So needless to say I was thrilled to find a shirt that was plenty long for leggings.
I added my favorite brown boots with these black leggings. I also added my new favorite boot socks. I received them as a gift for Christmas and can’t believe I didn’t own a pair before now. They are great and kept my legs and feet really warm while I was running around in the snow. Clearly these will be a must next time I go to the snow.
I’ve been trying to use smaller purses lately to ease the pain of always having to hold one. I’m sure it won’t last forever because, you know me, I love big purses.
However, I bought this Tory Burch cross-body bag on sale and love how hands-free it is. It is a little smaller than I thought it was but either way, it holds all the necessities, which is really all I need anyway. I highly recommend trying out a cross-body purse if you haven’t yet. You’ll appreciate it eventually.
Shopping, dinner, coffee date or family gatherings all are places I would wear this outfit. In fact, I wore it for Christmas Day with my family. I guess as long as you don’t live in the freezing cold it works for a lot of things.
Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday! Be sure to visit the snow while California has some!
