It's no secret that comfort food is a cornerstone of the Carnival cruise experience and passengers are eager to indulge in it during their vacations. Just during the summer cruise season, Guy Fieri's Guy's Burger Joint serves about 2.8 million burgers across Carnival's fleet of 29 ships. Passengers also enjoy about 13 million servings of ice cream and 2.4 million slices of pizza during summer cruises.
Although comfort food may be the bread and butter of Carnival's food and beverage program, the cruise line understands that more and more people are prioritizing wellness today, even while on vacation. Enhancing complimentary dining options to provide more variety for passengers has been a key focus for Carnival in recent years, and that doesn't just mean that the cruise line is offering more types of comfort food.
For example, in late 2025, the cruise line rolled out a "Bagels at Sea" breakfast option that includes a Powerhouse Protein bagel sandwich among other choices. Now in 2026, the cruise line is testing a new Seaday Brunch menu that features both expanded comfort food options and lighter, wellness-focused fare.
If you want to eat healthy while on a Carnival cruise, you can find nutritious food choices available at no extra charge across the Lido buffet and main dining room. However, certain ships offer more nutrient-rich food options than others, especially at lunch.

Select Carnival cruise ships offer a fan-favorite, healthy lunch option
The standard Carnival cruise ship salad bar at the Lido Marketplace buffet doesn't cut for every cruiser who likes to eat a salad as a lunch entrée rather than a burger.
If your ideal sea day lunch looks like a big bowl of fresh greens, protein, and varied toppings, you'll want to book one of the limited number of Carnival cruise ships that features Fresh Creations. Tucked away in the adults-only Serenity Retreat for passengers 21 and older, Fresh Creations is open for lunch on sea days on select ships.

Designed for adults looking for lighter lunch fare for days at sea, the Fresh Creations menu features made-to-order salads that are easy to customize. Passengers can choose a build-your-own option or select from Carnival's signature salads, such as Just Arugula Guy and Lettuce Aboard.
Greens choices range from radicchio, arugula, and romaine to Boston lettuce and baby kale. Toppings include a variety of vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, cheese, and more, as well as protein options like roasted chicken, shrimp, and hard-boiled eggs. For dressings, passengers can choose from vinaigrettes and classics like Caesar, ranch, and blue cheese.

Fresh Creations is available on six Carnival cruise ships across Carnival's Excel Class (the cruise line's largest and newest class) and Vista Class.
Those ships include:

- Carnival Vista
Fans of Fresh Creations not only love it for its fresh salads, they appreciate its location on the adults-only Serenity Deck, which offers a peaceful, uncrowded ambience for a relaxing sea day lunch.
"I almost always get a salad for lunch from the ships that have this option available. It's pretty good. Most people don't know it's there so rarely is there a wait," Jennifer Kiger shared in a discussion about Fresh Creations on Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald's Facebook page.
