‘Sweetie’s Yumhouse Kitchen’ opens at Playhouse Merced
Baker, performer and educator Dawn Trook is scheduled to perform “Sweetie’s Yumhouse Kitchen” starting Saturday at Playhouse Merced.
Part performance, part science experiment, part cooking lesson, Sweetie’s is a traveling kitchen designed to delight and instruct, according to a press release.
Trook plays Sweetie, a kooky, sweet baker who entertains while instructing. These public performances help kids and their families learn cooking skills, basic kitchen science and nutrition.
March 7, 10 a.m. – Baking Soda: The Magic Ingredient (Recipe: gluten-free buttermilk pancakes)
April 18, 10 a.m. – Salt! The Tastiest Rock (Recipe: salt playdough)
May 16, 10 a.m. – Better with Butter (Recipe: homemade butter)
June 20, 10 a.m. – The Eggcellent Egg (Recipe: forgotten cookies)
All take place at Playhouse Merced, 452 W. Main St., in Merced.
These special performances are made possible through grant funding from First 5 Merced County and are especially designed for children ages 2-5 and their families.
