Major house fire under investigation in Merced County
Flames gutted a two-story home Wednesday night in Livingston, firefighters said.
Firefighters were called around 6:16 p.m. to a home in the 1200 Block of E Street, said Mark Pimentel, battalion chief for CalFire-Merced County.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remained unclear, but investigators believe flames sparked somewhere in the rear of the home, Pimentel said.
He described damage to the home as major.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether anyone was home at the time of the fire, but firefighters said residents wouldn’t be able to stay there Wednesday night. The exact number of people potentially displaced by the fire also was unclear.
