Need to reach loved ones in Mexico? This company offers free calls, texts after quake
AT&T is offering free data, calls and text messages in Mexico through the end of Thursday in response to yesterday’s devastating earthquake that killed more than 200 people.
In a statement issued late Tuesday, AT&T said it would waive fees and provide credits for customers in Mexico and for calls and messages from customers in the United States to Mexico between Tuesday and Thursday.
“This includes calling and texting from AT&T wireless and AT&T PREPAID customers and calls from AT&T landline customers,” the company said in a news release.
Tuesday’s magnitude 7.1 earthquake claimed at least 223 lives, according to the latest numbers released today by Mexico’s civil defense coordinator.
The company said its network was “performing normally” on Wednesday.
“We are closely monitoring our network for any effects from the earthquake, resulting in damage and potential commercial power outages,” the company said in the statement.
