It was smiles all around at the 25th annual Kiwanis Club of Greater Merced’s Easter Egg Hunt at Applegate Park on Saturday. All children through the age of 10 were invited to participate in Easter egg hunts set up for different age groups. Toddlers, ages 4 or younger, hunted eggs at 10 a.m. on the park’s tennis court. Children ages 5 to 7 were in Area 1 next to the tennis court, and children ages 8 to 10 were in Area 2 next to the skate park. Candy-filled plastic eggs were used for the event, with some of them containing receipts for special prizes. The Merced, Golden Valley and Livingston Key Club members assisted in preparations by helping fill the 3,000 plastic Easter eggs with candy and prizes. Kiwanis Kiddieland was also open Saturday, bringing more smiles to children and parents after the Easter egg hunts were concluded.
