Chowchilla’s Western Stampede rides this weekend
The 61st annual Chowchilla Western Stampede got underway Friday with the traditional cattle drive down Robertson Boulevard, drawing dozens to the old-west theme attraction in the community of about 18,000.
The kickoff event on Friday sets the stage for three days of roping and barrel racing.
The Cattle Drive and Stampede are a part of Chowchilla’s heritage.
Roping events get underway Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. at the Fairgrounds Indoor Arena on Robertson Boulevard in Chowchilla. Events continue next weekend, March 16 and 17 with barrell racing and roping events.
