The Merced Police Department announced this week it closed the lobby of its headquarters at 611 W. 22nd Street due to the COVID-19 precautions.

The lobby closure went into effect at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

The police department gave alternate ways to get a hold of officers and different divisions.

To contact the Records Division, call (209) 385-4730 or (209) 385-6912.

The Records Division may be called for tow releases, copies of police reports and repo releases. The (209) 385-6912 number can be used to file a police report.

There is also a phone on the outside of the station that public can use to file a police report or have a citation signed off.

Questions about dog licensing can be handled by calling (209) 385-4751. Requests for new or renewing dog licenses will be handled by mail.
