Merced police arrest man after finding large amount of heroin, Xanax in vehicle

A large amount of narcotics were found in a vehicle belonging to a 30-year old man in Merced on Thursday, according to police.

Officers arrested Brandon Reyna, 30, on suspicion of possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics for sale after they found 116 Xanax pills and 71.1 grams of black tar heroin in his black Chevy Malibu, the department said. Scales and other assorted narcotics paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle, according to police. He was cited and released.

The Merced Police Department responded to a call at 4:49 p.m. on Thursday of a male subject passed out in a vehicle in the 1600 block of R Street. Officers found Reyna in the vehicle and while speaking to him the officers noticed Reyna appeared to be under the influence.

The officers then searched the vehicle and found the narcotics and paraphernalia.
