Police seeking help after 37-year-old man shot in alley in Merced

A 37-year-old man in Merced was transported to a Modesto hospital early Saturday after he was shot in the 200-block alley of West 18th Street, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at 1:06 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the man, who had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

According to police, the victim woke up when he heard glass breaking in the alley. He went to check on his property when two subjects confronted him. At least one suspect fired multiple rounds, striking the victim once.

The suspects left the scene.
