AARP Merced’s Monthly Meeting

AARP Merced’s monthly meeting will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. After the meeting, lunch will be served for $3. The meeting is open to the public.

Christmas in July in Merced

Veritas Parlor 75 of the Merced Native Daughters of the Golden West will present Christmas in July from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Parkway. There will be handmade holiday crafts, breads, cookies, jams and jellies. A silent auction and second-time-around tables will be available. A tea luncheon is also planned for a $10 donation. Club Mercedes to serve menudo

Club Mercedes will serve menudo from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at 569 W. Ninth St. in Merced. Dine in or take-out to go available. Prices are $8 for a small bowl and $9 for a large. Gospel music concert in Merced

Bev McCann Ministries presents an evening of gospel music at 7 p.m. July 31 at Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Tickets are $15, and children 12 and under are admitted free. Scholarship fundraiser dinner in Hilmar

Livingston Community Health will host its third annual scholarship-fundraiser dinner at 5 p.m. Aug. 13 at Hilmar Cheese Co., 9001 Lander Ave. This year’s event will honor the 2015 scholarship recipients and feature a tri-tip dinner as well as a raffle and auction benefiting the scholarship program. Blood drive in Merced

Local residents can make an impact in the lives of patients in need by donating blood during the BloodSource Summer Classic in Merced from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at BloodSource Merced, 382 E. Yosemite Ave. Participants will receive a commemorative Summer Classic T-shirt, MyBloodSource Rewards and Togo’s sandwiches.

Livingston Lions Club collecting glasses

Livingston Lions Club has five new collection points for used eyeglasses in Livingston. Eyeglasses are being collected at the Rite Aid, Livingston Medical Center, True Value, Livingston Fitness and Liberty Market. Take any used eyeglasses to those boxes and they will be recycled to people in need around the world. Call Jill at 209-489-7533 for more information about the Livingston Lions Club.

Harvest of Hope charitable dinner

Catholic Charities Merced will host its first Harvest of Hope event Aug. 28 at St. Patrick’s Parish, 671 E. Yosemite Ave. in Merced. No-host cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by a barbecue dinner at 7 p.m. The event will raise funds to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and other causes. Organizers are seeking sponsors.
