Atwater school board will interview trustee candidate at Tuesday meeting
The Atwater Elementary School District governing board was scheduled Tuesday evening to interview a candidate for the Area 2 trustee seat.
Joe Hoffar, the board president, resigned effective Aug. 1 because he moved outside of his area.
The board decided to fill the seat through a provisional appointment rather than holding a costly special election.
The vacancy was advertised in the Sun-Star and Atwater-Winton Times from July 16 to 23, according to district documents. One eligible candidate applied before the July 27 deadline.
The board may take action and appoint the candidate at Tuesday’s meeting.
Visit the Merced Sun-Star website or pick up a copy of the newspaper on Wednesday for the full report on Tuesday’s developments.
