Santa Rosa police investigating city's first homicide of the year

The Santa Rosa Police Department is investigating the city's first homicide of the year after a woman was found dead late Monday night, June 8, authorities said.

According to Sgt. Patricia Seffens, Santa Rosa police officers responded about 9:15 p.m. Monday after multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots in the 3000 block of Marlow Road.

When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot and pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the woman's identity.

Seffens said Tuesday no suspect has been identified or arrested, and the firearm used in the shooting has not been recovered.

Detectives believe the killing was an isolated incident and not a random act, Seffens said. The investigation is ongoing.

The case marks the department's first homicide investigation of the year, according to Seffens. In 2025, the department investigated 10 homicides within city limits, the first occurring on Jan. 8 on Monarch Court.
