Motorcyclist fatally ejected in crash on state Highway 242
A motorcyclist died in a highway crash Friday after running into the back of a car, the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities did not identify the motorcyclist Monday morning, citing the investigation. The wreck happened about 10 a.m. on southbound state Highway 242, just north of the Grant Street exit.
In a statement, CHP spokesperson Officer Dan Gilmore said investigators had not determined why the motorcycle crashed into the rear of a red Subaru sedan. The motorcyclist flew off the bike after the crash and died at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru was not injured. Nobody else was in that vehicle.
The CHP closed the two right lanes of Highway 242 for about two hours to investigate. They continue to look for witnesses to determine why the motorcyclist have hit the Subaru and asked anyone who may have information on the crash to contact their Contra Costa County division at 320investigations@chp.ca.gov or at 925-387-1900.
