Comedy and Broadway shows to see in Palm Springs area this weekend
In the mood for some live entertainment this weekend? Here are The Desert Sun's picks for the can't-miss performances in the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities July 9 through 11.
HOT PICK
Joy Koy at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa
Comedy: Since his run as a longtime panelist on Chelsea Handler's former "Chelsea Lately," comedian Jo Koy has recorded stand-up specials for Netflix and Comedy Central, and launched his podcast "The Koy Pond with Jo Koy." In 2024, he hosted the Golden Globe Awards, which didn't go over well as his jokes fell flat with the audience.
But Koy continues to sell out live shows, and a January 2026 show was filmed for an upcoming Netflix special. He also has a voice role in the upcoming DreamWorks Animation film "Forgotten Island." On Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, Koy will perform at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa.
If you go: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa, 32-250 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage. Tickets $95 to $225. aguacalientecasinos.com

Rock: During the '90s, the rock band Hanson, featuring the teen brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac, exploded in popularity after its 1997 single "MMMBop" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped other charts. The follow-up singles "Where's The Love?" and "I Will Come to You" were also successful. Hanson is still together, but Taylor is the only brother who has a solo project outside the band.
Taylor Hanson will perform on Friday, July 10, at Pappy and Harriet's. David Garza will also perform.
If you go: 9 p.m. Friday, Pappy and Harriet's, 53-688 Pioneertown Road, Pioneertown. Tickets $37.56. pappyandharriets.com
