Applications available for Merced Junior Fair Board

The Merced County Fair is recruiting area teenagers for spots on the 2016 Junior Fair Board.

Candidates must live in Merced County and be 14 to 19 years old as of Jan. 1. A grade-point average of 2.0 or better is required to be eligible to volunteer, and candidates cannot show more than one animal in the 2016 Merced County Fair. Each member will serve for one year and must reapply for membership in following years.

Serving on the board will help fulfill high school community service requirements.

The 2016 fair is June 8-12.

Junior Fair Board applications must be received at the fairgrounds office no later than 5 p.m. Nov. 16. Applications may be hand-delivered, sent by mail or other courier service and should be addressed to “ATTN: Junior Fair Board Advisors.”

Applications can be picked up at the Merced County Fairgrounds Office, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Merced. Applications also can be downloaded from the fair’s website, at www.MercedCountyFair.com.
