Rummage sale

Golden Valley High’s Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations is holding a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Parsons and Childs avenues. The groups is raising money for members to attend the FHA/HERO State meeting in April. The sale includes juniors, womens, mens and kids clothes, in addition to miscellaneous items. Merced Flea and Farmers Market

The Merced Flea and Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. behind the fairgrounds, 900 G St. EBT is accepted.

La Ultima Risa Closing Party

Mariposa Art Company will be throwing “La Ultima Risa Closing Party” featuring the music of Tres Muertos, a three-piece psychobilly band from San Fernando. The show will take place from 7-10 p.m. Saturday night at 1637 M St. in Merced. The closing party will be the last chance to purchase artwork from more than 30 different local artists. This is a free event.

Turkey Trot Fun Run

Church bazaar

Apostolic Tabernacle Ladies Auxiliary annual Holiday Bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 2745 East Highway 140 in Merced. The event features gifts, crafts and more. For information, call (209) 723-0545.

Free turkey giveaway

Free turkeys will be distributed to less fortunate families at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Merced County Fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Merced, and 2 p.m. Monday at the Los Banos Fairgrounds, 403 F St. in Los Banos. Hostetler Ranches will distribute 500 turkeys and 500 bags of almonds at both sites, with a limit of one per household. For more information, email HostetlerTurkeys@gmail.com.

Shakespearefest auditions

Merced Shakespearefest is holding auditions for its 2015 winter play, Shakespeare’s romance “The Winter’s Tale,” at 10 a.m. Saturday at Playhouse Merced, 452 W. Main Street in downtown Merced. Church to hold meal Sunday

The Livingston United Methodist Church will have its annual Thanksgiving Dinner at noon Sunday in its Pioneer Hall, 11695 Olive Ave. in Livingston. Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy will be supplied. All are welcome and are asked to bring a favorite Thanksgiving side dish to share or leave a donation to help offset the cost of the free gathering. For more information, call (209) 394-2264.

Menudo at Club Mercedes

Club Mercedes, a nonprofit organization, continues to serve Menudo every Sunday at 569 W. 9th St. in Merced. Serving time is 8 a.m. to noon or until it sells out. Prices are $7 for a small bowl or $8 for a large bowl. Hot tortillas, sweet bread and coffee are included, and there are $5 bloody Mary specials as well as other beverages. Grief share group

Central Presbyterian Church is hosting a 13-week Grief Share Group every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The group will meet at the Hoffmeister Center, 1920 Canal St. For more information and/or to RSVP, call (209) 723-0491.

SCORE, a national nonprofit organization that provides no-cost counseling to small businesses, is joining with the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce to provide the service to anyone needing business counseling. National Alliance on Mental Illness

Merced County’s branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness holds bi-weekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. For more information, call (209) 381-6844 and a volunteer will contact you within 48 hours.
