Stocking Stuffer: You can’t go wrong with a classic book
Throughout the holiday season, the Merced Sun-Star is offering gift suggestions from local merchants.
We got this suggestion from Alissa Haynes, manager of Second Time Around Used Books in Merced:
“Special editions of children’s classics or adhering to special hobbies of a particular gift recipient seems to work beautifully when shopping for books as gifts.”
She suggested “Treasure Island” or Beatrix Potter for children, or a cookbook for a foodie.
“The great thing about shopping for books as a gift is that it becomes an adventure of really trying to know the person for whom you are shopping,” she said. Of course, if you’re not sure what the recipient likes, you can always pick up a simple classic and put a gift certificate inside.
