Merced County seeks nominations for outstanding volunteers
Merced County is accepting nominations for its annual volunteer recognition program.
The program, established by the Merced County Board of Supervisors in 1999, provides an opportunity to recognize groups or individuals in Merced County for their contributions and dedication to their communities.
The board will honor volunteers selected by its advisory committee at a board meeting April 26. Volunteers from each supervisor’s district should be nominated. The theme of National Volunteer Week on April 10-16 is “Celebrate Service.”
Awards are based on service that goes above and beyond what the job requires, service that enhances the quality of a community program and service based on longevity.
Past honorees have included Police Department volunteers, individuals from animal rescue groups and other nonprofit organizations.
The deadline to nominate volunteers is 5 p.m. April 1.
Applications are available on Merced County’s website at www.co.merced.ca.us/volunteer.
Nomination forms can be mailed or hand-delivered to the county administration building at: Merced County Board of Supervisors, Attn: Mike North, at 2222 M St., Third Floor in Merced. Complete forms also can be faxed to 209-385-7375, Attn: Mike North. For more information, contact Mike North at 209-726-2744.
