Merced County Farm Bureau will host wine, cheese night for teachers

The Merced County Farm Bureau for the fifth year will host its Teacher Appreciation wine and cheese night at the Merced Fruit Barn on Friday.

All kindergarten through 12th-grade Merced County teachers are invited to attend the event at 4526 E. Highway 140 from 4 to 7 p.m.

The event was created to link Merced County teachers with local ag-related businesses and organizations by providing teachers with multiple contacts and resources that can be used in the classroom.

It’s also been a tool for Farm Bureau staff to analyze and improve agricultural education programs so students understand the role of agriculture in Merced County.

“We are extremely proud and grateful for the support from local schools and educators over the last few years,” said Breanne Ramos, the Farm Bureau’s executive director. “We still have major inroads and hurdles to overcome, but by educating our youth on where their food and fiber comes from, we are beginning the much-needed conversation at a young age.”

The Farm Bureau asks teachers who plan to attend to reserve their spot by contacting Sydney Vance at 209-723-3001 or svance@mercedfarmbureau.org.
