Merced High Girls soccer fundraiser

The Merced High School girls soccer team will have a fundraiser at Chipotle from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 2. Fifty percent of a purchase will go to the soccer team if you mention the team when paying.

Mental Health Board meeting

The next Merced County Mental Health Board meeting is Feb. 3. Meetings are the first Tuesday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at 1137 B St., Merced. The agenda includes a follow-up on the Wellness Center discussion and a report on Laura’s Law.

Empty Bowl fundraiser

Merced County Community Action Agency will have its fourth annual Empty Bowl Project 2015 on Feb. 5 at the Christian Life Center. In exchange for a $20 donation individuals will receive a bowl of gourmet soup, bread and can choose from hundreds of handmade bowls. Volunteer income tax assistance

In partnership with the Internal Revenue Service, the United Way of Merced County will prepare tax returns free for those with incomes of less than $51,000 annually. Assistance will be offered from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Saturdays from Feb. 7 through April 10 at 658 W. Main St., Merced. The service will also be provided at the Salvation Army office in Los Banos and the Lifeline Community Center in Winton. Call United Way at (209) 383-4242 for details.

Dog obedience class

A six-week basic dog obedience class will be held at 11 a.m. beginning Feb. 7 at Applegate Park, Merced. There will also be a Canine Good Citizen class. The cost is $70. If the dog came from a rescue or shelter, the price is $50. For more information, call (209) 631-0484.

Lecture about Islam

The Merced Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will host a free lecture titled “The True Picture of Islam” at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 , 305 W. 26th St., Merced. For more information, call (209) 723-3427.

PFLAG meeting

The Merced Chapter of PFLAG will meet at 7 p.m Feb. 10 at the LGBT Community Center, 1744 G. Street, Suite H. PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals, their families and friends through support, education and advocacy.
