Merced College starts superintendent search

Merced College wants citizens to serve on a presidential search committee and attend public meetings to hire a permanent superintendent.

According to news releases, the board of trustees of the Merced Community College District is holding an open recruitment process for the top administrator position through Aug. 26.

Initial interviews are set to occur during the week of Oct. 10. If a viable candidate is selected, the college’s seventh superintendent will be announced on Dec. 13.

More information on the position is available online at www.mccd.edu/offices/hr/jobs/president-search.

To help the board decide on a new superintendent, the college is seeking community members to serve on the presidential search committee.

“Community involvement in the presidential search is really crucial,” board President Dennis Jordan said. “Those who are interested in serving on the search committee should know that this is a serious commitment of time.”

Committee members are expected to attend every meeting and interview, including about four partial days to review applications, two partial days for preliminary committee work and two full days for interviews, and possibly attending the board meeting when committee recommendations are presented.

Citizens interested in the search committee should submit an application by July 15. The application can be found at www.mccd.edu/offices/hr/jobs/president-search/community-involvement.
